Why I Tried (and Failed) to Run Remote Desktop Client on Linux
Ever tried running mstsc.exe on Linux to connect to a Windows 11 PC with Entra ID and MFA? I did — and it sent me down a rabbit hole of COM errors, unsupported authentication methods, and a deeper understanding of why Microsoft’s modern RDP stack just doesn’t play well outside of Windows. In this post, I break down what I was trying to achieve, how ChatGPT helped me explore the options, and why — in the end — the only real solution might still be Windows itself.
