Unable to install NTRGlobal Plugin for Google Chrome on Windows 8

Since Google Chrome has stopped supporting the NPAPI APIs, some plugins won’t be able to be installed in Google Chrome. For me this was a problem as there is a plugin I use for work with remote support, NTRGlobal. This allows me to remote access a client’s computer and provide VNC-like access.

However I have found this only applies for those running Windows 8.

This is a workaround to get the plugin working.

  1. Before opening Chrome, set compatibility for Windows 7 from the Properties
  2. Start Chrome and install the plugin from the app store
  3. Close Chrome and revert the compatibility change.
  4. Done!
